Connecting an Android/Chromebook to Eduroam

Below are three different methods for logging into Eduroam on Android and Chromebook devices.

Method 1 is detailed instructions for manually connecting to Eduroam for phones with Android operating systems or Chromebooks.

Method 2 is an alternate setup for Chromebooks and Androids if Method 1 doesn't work.

Android Additional Help is a third setup option for Android users. For Google Pixel users with newer phones, this may be the best setup.

Connecting to Eduroam for Android/Chromebook: Method 1

This is the most common setup for Eduroam on Android devices and Chromebooks.

1. Go to "Wifi" in Settings.

2. When prompted, use these configuration settings to connect to Eduroam:

EAP Method: select "Protected EAP" or "PEAP"

Phase 2 Authentication: select "MSCHAPv2"

Server CA certificate:
Chromebooks and Androids: Select "Do not validate" or "Do not check" from drop-down menu.

Google Pixel or Motorola phone: select "Use system certificates"

Domain Suffix Match:
Chromebooks and Androids: Leave blank

Google Pixel or Motorola: byu.edu

Username/Identity: The username is your student email. It needs to be formatted as <yournetid>@byu.edu.

Password: The password will be your BYU password, the same one you use for all BYU websites.

Anonymous identity: Leave blank

All other fields: Leave blank 

3. Press "Connect." You should now be connected to Eduroam.

4. If you continue to have trouble connecting to Eduroam, please contact the BYU Tech Support Center at 801-422-4000 for assistance. Let them know you have tried all the troubleshooting steps on this webpage.

Connecting to Eduroam for Android/Chromebook: Method 2

Try this setup if Method 1 didn't work.

1. Go to "Wifi" in Settings.

2. When prompted, use these configuration settings to connect to Eduroam:

EAP Method: Select "Protected EAP" or "PEAP"

Phase 2 Authentication: choose "Automatic"

Server CA certificate: select "Default"

Domain Suffix Match: byu.edu

Username/Identity: The username is your student email. It needs to be formatted as <yournetid>@byu.edu.

Password: The password will be your BYU password, the same one you use for all BYU websites.

Anonymous identity: Leave blank

All other fields: Leave blank

3. Select "Connect." You should now be connected to Eduroam.

4. If you continue to have trouble connecting to Eduroam, please contact the BYU Tech Support Center at 801-422-4000 for assistance. Let them know you have tried all the troubleshooting steps on this webpage.

Additional Help for Google Pixel

1. Go to "Wifi" in Settings.

2. When prompted, use these configuration settings to connect to Eduroam:

EAP Method: select "Protected EAP" or "PEAP"

Phase 2 Authentication: choose "MSCHAPv2"

Server CA certificate: select "Trust on first use"

Username/Identity: The username is your student email. It needs to be formatted as <yournetid>@byu.edu.

Password: The password will be your BYU password, the same one you use for all BYU websites.

Anonymous identity: anonymous@byu.edu

All other fields: Leave blank 

3. Select "Connect." You should now be connected to Eduroam.
